Families in crisis are getting left behind…
Our world and health care system is made for people who fit the mold of the Canadian Dream. But what about the families who struggle, or who have teens with mental health concerns? Supporting them has never been more important. While we had seen an increase in these issues prior to the pandemic, COVID-19 and the isolation that it brought has only exacerbated the problem. With the cancellation of in-person counselling, support groups, school and extra-curricular activities, many kids have felt increased anxiety and stress because of isolation and loneliness. So they self-medicate. When we ignore these issues, it only makes it harder for families and communities to survive.
“[Because of COVID-19], in-person counselling and support groups were suspended, many people felt more anxious and stressed and so many people feel isolated and lonely…”
- Nicholas Kristof, New York Times Opinion Columnist

Give a one-time gift.
We are all impacted by mental health; if not yourself, then someone you care about is struggling today. Our Centre for Family Initiatives provides community-based resources to all families in need of help. With your support, we can continue to provide family-based therapy to families across Ontario and nationwide.
Monthly giving.
Committing to a monthly gift is about more that just the money - it is your unwavering support of youth mental health and addictions. Even contributing as little as $50 every month can provide much-needed support and treatment for youth, their families and their communities.
Honour a memory.
What better way to honour the life of someone you love than to give a gift in their name. Whether their passion was mental health, addictions support, youth, families or just making the world a better place for future generations, nothing says “celebration of life” like giving hope to a family in crisis.
“Pine River gives you a sense of community where you can share your story honestly.”
- Trudy, Pine River student
